Improving pathways to health care for children and young people in care

Darling Downs and West Moreton PHN in partnership with local stakeholders launched The Children and Young People in Care Information Booklet in March 2021. The booklet was developed as a part of the Strengthening Health Pathways Project to improve access to health care for children and young people living in care in the Ipswich area.

The Project is aimed at improving health outcomes for children and young people in care by focusing on creating health care pathways and improving the number of health assessments conducted.

Providing adaptive education for health professionals

The PHN hosted a five-part webinar series with leading West Moreton Paediatrician Dr Ian Shellshear. Dr Shellshear has over 40 years of experience in paediatrics and is passionate about behaviour management for children and young people.

The webinar series covered topics such as examination techniques for children presenting with behaviour or development issues, the importance of family, carers and teachers, behavioural strategies, and diagnosis and assessment tools.
